Julian James

Julian James joined Allied World in 2013 as European President. He is responsible for providing strategic leadership and executing business strategies for the European and Asia insurance operations. Prior to joining Allied World, Julian spent five years as Chief Executive Officer at Lockton International.

Previously, he spent ten years working for Lloyd’s of London, having joined in 1997 as Head of the North America Business Unit and subsequently taking on the role as Director, Worldwide Markets, where he was responsible for all Lloyd’s commercial activities outside the UK. Until joining Lloyd’s Julian was Development Director of brokers Sedgwick Energy and Marine and a member of the division’s Executive Management Committee.

Julian is a working member of the Lloyd’s Council.  He served as President of the Chartered Insurance Institute until July 2012.  He is Vice President of the Insurance Institute of London. In addition to this role he is a board member of the Lloyd’s Community Programme.  Julian was also a board member of the General Insurance Standards Council.
