Member of the Gender Equality Advisory Committee to the G7
She served as Tánaiste from 2016 to 2017, Minister for Businness, Enterprise and Innovation from June 2017 to November 2017, Minister for Justice and Equality from 2014 to 2016, Minister for Children and Youth Affairs from 2011 to 2014 and Leader of Fine Gael in the Seanad from 2007 to 2011. She was the second Fine Gael politician to ever hold the office of Tánaiste.
Frances served as a member of the European Parliament between 2019 to July 2024 as part of the European People’s Party Delegation.
She was elected as the EPP’s Coordinator in the Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) Committee. She was a full member on the Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) Committee and substitute member of the Development (DEVE) Committee and the Committee on Foreign Interference in Democratic Processes (INGE).
She was also appointed full member of the European Delegation for relations with China and substitute member of the European Delegation for relations with the United States of America.
Between 2021-2024, Frances held the office of the Vice-President of the EPP Group, the largest political group in the European Parliament.
