Partner, Head of Insurance, Deloitte
Ciara is an actuarial partner with 30 years’ experience in the (re)insurance industry. She leads Deloitte’s actuarial practice in Ireland. Ciara has extensive experience of multiple accounting and regulatory frameworks from an actuarial perspective including US GAAP, IFRS, Irish GAAP, Solvency II (all pillars), MCEV and Canadian LICAT. Ciara is currently the outsourced Head of Actuarial Function (HoAF) for a domestic insurance company and peer reviewer (a role required by the CBI under Solvency II) for a number of other entities. She also leads the actuarial elements of the IFRS and Solvency II audit of the largest domestic insurance company in Ireland.
From Sept 2019 to Dec 2021, Ciara was Actuarial Lead on PartnerRe’s Global IFRS 17 program. This meant being responsible for all actuarial / IFRS 17 aspects of the program including delivery and review of policy papers and associated design, financial impact analyses, transition, education and SME input into areas such as process design, IT implementation and testing. Ciara has significant knowledge of PartnerRe’s systems and processes across life and non-life. Ciara also previously lead another reinsurers’ modelling and methodology transformation program.
