President, Global Federation of Insurance Associations (GFIA) and Director General, the Association of Mexican Insurance Companies (AMIS)
Recaredo was appointed Director General, the Association of Mexican Insurance Companies (AMIS) in 2003. Since his appointment he has been involved in major developments in the industry including participating in NAFTA negotiations, the implementation of Solvency II regulation for the insurance industry in Mexico, and the proposal of amendments to the CNSF in favor of Mexican insurers. He was also a key participant in the negotiation of the new Mexican insurance law (LISF) and the development of Microinsurance in Mexico and throughout LATAM. Recaredo also coordinated an IDB-FOMIN-MICROINSURANCE project in 6 countries with 10 insurance companies. In 2008, he was elected General-Secretary of the Federación Iberoamericana de Empresas de Seguros (FIDES) a role he held until 2010.
Recaredo was appointed President of the Global Federation of Insurance Associations (GFIA) in November 2018: he was Vice-president of GFIA since 2012, the organization that represents the interests of insurers and reinsurers in 61 countries. Additionally, Recaredo chairs the Financial Inclusive Working Group.
Recaredo holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and an MBA specialized in Finance and Marketing from Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM).
